The photos in this fine art chapbook explore a monochrome vision of night and of the intriguing textures to be found in the darkness. The absence of color alters the mood and feel of the composition, enhances the eeriness of a lonely setting, and allows one to more fully appreciate the sense of cumulative time evident in a long exposure. This passing of time presents us with fascinating textures – in contrast to the sharpness of wind-sculpted stone or weathered boards of a ruined building, wind-tossed branches and streaming clouds soften and weave into a ghostly blur, while far overhead the diamond-chip stars wheel and elongate into sharp, curving, crystalline lines. The photos in this chapbook represent one such exploration of the many textures of night.
